Probably the most well known of all casino games, Roulette is a live action game loved the world over!
Simply choose the table at which you want to play, each table has a sign showing the minimum bet required to play the game, and the maximum bet the game will allow, so you can choose a betting level to suit you.
Unlike most other table games, Roulette is played with Colour Chips rather than Cash Chips. To get your colour chips, simply place your money on the table and say “colour please”. The Dealer will then give you chips of your own colour so that they don’t get mixed up with anyone elses at the table.
Once you have your colour chips, you are ready to play the game. You can choose to play one chip, some of your chips, or if you wish all of your chips on the table at any one time – it’s up to you!
There are lots of combinations of bets you can choose from, from a single number to a group of numbers to a whole section of numbers on the wheel. Take a look at the table below to see all the different bets you could place:
The Dealer allows plenty of time for everyone at the table to place their bets. You may need to lean across the table in order to place bets where you want them, don’t worry, this is perfectly fine, or if you can’t reach a number, simply ask the Dealer to place the bet for you, and put it on the table for him or her to pick up and place.
The Dealer will then spin the wheel and soon say “final bets please”, this is when you need to finalise your betting decisions as the ball will soon be dropping into the winning number.
The ball will drop into one of the 37 numbers on the wheel (0-36). Eighteen of the numbers are Red, eighteen numbers are Black and then Zero (which is coloured green on the wheel). If you have placed a winning bet, you will be paid at the odds highlighted on the table opposite. Different bets have different odds based on the likelihood of that bet occurring.
A lot of people like to start out Roulette playing lottery style, putting a chip or two on birthdays and other favourite numbers, it’s as good a way to play as any. Other people like to play some numbers next to each other on the wheel, so they can watch the ball dropping near (or far) from their own section. Lots of first timers also like to play Red / Black or other “even chance” bets. If you play these, bear in mind the table minimum is more than one colour chip on these bets on most tables.
The Dealer pays most winning bets in colour chips so that you can continue to play. If you have a big win, or accumulate quite a lot of colour chips, the Dealer might ask you if you want cash chips instead (so you don’t end up with piles and piles of colour chips).
Once you want to leave the table, just ask the Dealer to change the colour chips back into cash chips, (“cashing in”). You can change these into cash at the Cash Desk in the casino or use them to play at the other tables.
