Blackpool is a great day out for the family, but if you’re making an escape from the kids for a day, or planning a day out with friends, there’s plenty to do in town. Whether you’re looking for a boozy brunch, exploring the bars and clubs, or immersing yourself in art and culture, we’ve got it all here for you in Blackpool!

Food, Glorious Food!

Any adult-orientated day out in Blackpool will undoubtedly involve a few good drinks, so it’s a good idea to get a good breakfast or brunch before you get started, and there are some amazing places to get some great food to get you started.

If you’re making an early start and looking for a good breakfast, why not try Ziggy’s Cafe Bar? This family-run cafe is inspired by the legendary David Bowie and is packed full of memorabilia to explore. The whole menu is amazing, but the breakfasts are almost as legendary as Ziggy Stardust himself.

Go for a traditional full English breakfast, made with fresh ingredients, or try the delicious American pancakes or French toast with maple syrup for a sweet breakfast treat.

Bottomless brunches have become wildly popular in the UK in recent years, and there are some brilliant brunch deals in Blackpool too.

Revolution's bottomless brushes have become legendary in the UK, and start at £20 per person, which includes one of their delicious brunch dishes, including a traditional grill, pancakes, fried chicken, burgers, pizza, and more, as well as vegan and gluten-free options, and a range of drinks to enjoy. You can upgrade your drinks for an extra £10 to include Pornstar Martinis!

Looking for lunchtime options or a bite to eat during the afternoon? Obviously, you’ll want fish and chips if you’re by the seaside, and you won’t be stuck for choice in Blackpool! Whether you want to enjoy a chippy lunch while strolling along the prom, or sit down and rest while you eat, there’s award-winning fish and chips at Coral Island.

You’ll also find Captain Jack’s Bar & Grill at Coral Island too, serving their famous double-dipped, extra-wide, pork ribs and stacker burgers layered with fresh ingredients and toppings.

As the evening approaches, you might be looking for dinner options, and you can find all your favourite restaurant brands in Blackpool, but if you’re looking for something other than a cheeky Nando’s, then head to The Beach House.

You can find The Beach House between the North Pier and the Tower Festival headland, with its amazing views over the Irish Sea, and some spectacular sunsets, giving you the perfect Instagram moment to make your friends envious!

There’s an extensive menu offering something for everyone, as well as an incredible cocktail menu, with delicious drinks concocted by The Beach House’s brilliant mixologists.

Amazing Attractions

If you have left the kids at home for the day, it doesn’t mean you can’t go and enjoy the same attractions they love - all without needing to supervise the little ones!

For a scary treat in the late afternoon or early evening, head to The Blackpool Tower Dungeon. It’s hilarious fun and can be a little scary, as you’re guided around the spooky sets by the guides, with actors telling gruesome and true takes of the history of the macabre in Lancashire.

Are you and your friends adrenaline-fuelled thrill-seekers? Then Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the place to be. It’s one of the best-known theme parks in the UK, with classic roller coasters and huge, scary rides such as The Big One and ICON. There are also some more gentle rides for those looking for something a little less extreme.

The seafront is packed with arcades, and you can’t visit Blackpool without trying your luck with the traditional seaside penny pushers, so why not come to Coral Island to revisit your childhood memories of playing on all the arcade games? Win tickets from the machines, and see if you can grab a gift from the Prize Shop as a memento of the day!

Arts and Culture

Having an adults-only day out doesn’t necessarily mean a wild day of boozing, food, and scary rides though; it can be an opportunity to visit places that the kids might consider to be a little unexciting.

Blackpool’s Winter Gardens was first opened in 1878 in a lavish ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of London as well as Mayors and Mayoresses from 68 towns across the UK. The huge venue boasts 11 unique spaces that demonstrate the finest in Victorian architecture and Art Deco design.

The Winter Gardens welcomes over a mullion visitors every year, who come to see the collection of theatres, ballrooms, exhibitions, and public spaces which host a diverse range of events and shows. Visit https://www.wintergardensblackpool.co.uk/ to see what’s on, including venue tours, afternoon tea, and all the current shows and gigs.

Founded in 1911 by brothers John and Cuthbert Grundy, the Grundy Art Gallery has been the focal point for art and culture in Blackpool for over a century. It began with the aim of showcasing the best art from the people of Blackpool and has become a leading contemporary art gallery in the North West of England.

The Grundy continues to inspire visitors and audiences through its year-round programme of exhibitions and events that draw on the people and heritage of Blackpool and has celebrated artists such as Emma Hart & Jonathan Baldock, Mark Leckey, Martin Creed, Brian Griffiths, David Hockney, Pierre Huyghe, Heather Phillipson, Susan Philipsz and Matt Stokes.

The iconic Grand Theatre was first opened in 1894 and is a cultural asset for Blackpool. It continues to host such esteemed companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, as well as Lost Dog, Hofesh Schechter, Boy Blue and Matthew Bourne.

A veritable who’s who of British actors, comedians and celebrities have graced the Grand’s stage, including Peter Kay, Dame Barbara Windsor, Des O’Connor CBE, Derren Brown, Jimmy Tarbuck, Julian Clarey, Olly Murs, and the Hairy Bikers! With everything from drama to dance, musicals to live music, there’s always a packed programme of events.

Brilliant Bars and Non-Stop Nightlife

Are you looking to end your night with a rave in a club, or take it easy with a few drinks in a chilled bar? We’ve got you covered whatever you desire!

For those wanting to let loose and dance the night away, head to Flamingo, found in one of Blackpool’s biggest former cinemas, and a party paradise! It’s open every night of the week until the early hours and features five floors, four bars, two dance floors, and three resident DJs. It’s one of the biggest and best places to bring your party and dance until the sun comes up.

If you’re looking for a quieter night to chill with your friends after a long day out, then there are plenty of smaller venues to visit, such as Bar 380, found at the top of the iconic Blackpool Tower, with stunning views of the town while you enjoy a relaxing drink in a tranquil setting.

Coral Island Casino is open from 10 am until 4 am every day, so if you’re looking for something different to do on your day out, then why not come and enjoy Blackpool’s friendliest welcome and a genuine casino experience? There are live Blackjack and Roulette tables for the thrill of seeing if lady luck is with you, a huge array of slot machines, and a well-stocked bar to sit and relax.
